Virgin Active opens the new Beacon Bay club in East London

Beacon Bay Opens

The picturesque seaside city of East London celebrates the opening of a second Virgin Active health club in Beacon Bay. The 3350 square meter club spreads across two levels and feature the latest technology in exercise equipment and international fitness trends.

Virgin Active South Africa’s managing director, Ross Faragher-Thomas, says that Virgin Active identified the need for a second club in the area. “Finding the time to exercise can be very difficult with the lifestyles we lead today. By exercising at a club that is conveniently situated to suit your busy schedule increases valuable exercise time. With the opening of the Beacon Bay Virgin Active, we are allowing more members to train comfortably at a club that allows for a bigger geographical reach ”

“We believe in equipping communities with the opportunity to stay fit and healthy and support them in reaching their fitness goals – personally or professionally. We are pleased to see the number of amateur sportsmen and women coming through our club in the area. We believe this is partly due to participation in large scale sporting events hosted in the area, such as the Ironman 70.3, which Virgin Active is the official health and fitness partner of”, says Ross Faragher-Thomas.

The ground floor of the club features a 25-metre lap pool, a cardio vascular area, luxury change rooms, a sauna, steam room, a Kauai juice bar, lounge and Internet stations. While parents are training they can now leave their children at Club V, an area where children can have fun and be taught the importance of an active lifestyle by trained staff.

The first floor accommodates a weight training section, functional training and a Power Plate area as well as a V-cycle spinning studio. A first in the area is the new Mind and Body studio where members can enjoy a wide variety of group exercise classes including yoga or Pilates classes in a calm and serene environment.

The club is based at the Beacon Bay Value Mart with easy access via Bonza Bay Road. For more information on the Beacon Bay club opening or Virgin Active’s other offerings log onto http://www.virginactive.co.za or call 0860 200 911.
